Τhrilled By!

Mama Mia movie (2008). Director: Rebecca Murray.

I absolutely adore Meryl Steep and love all of her movies. Mama Mia  is a superb musical, light-hearted, quite enjoyable movie, directed by Phyllida Lloyd.
Have you seen the it? Did you liked it?
This film is just sheer fun and as I love all of the songs by Abba, Mama Mia song has definitely become my daily music dose lately.
The other day I saw an excellent movie, Julie & Julia, with Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Stanley Tucci. This is  a comedy-drama film written and directed by Nora Ephron. The film is based on two true stories.
Meryl Streep's performance as Julia Child is absolutely astonishing! I really loved that funny, brilliant, smart, spicy, passionate character. Meryl Streep at her best! Food, recipes, butter, and a lot of cooking skills.
This movie is also about...yeah, blogging, and perspicaciously proves dreams do come true, but alas, our excessive devotion to it might lead to uncontrolled situations. I unreservedly love the moral of this movie.

Read on here and here . This is insanely delightful! I'm sure you'll enjoy this movie as much as I did.

My sweets, have a wonderful week! xx

  7. I've got to see Julie & Julia ... I've heard such good things about that movie. I hardly ever make it to the theatre, but looks like a great girls night rental!

  8. I love Meryl Streep, too! I loved Mama Mia, I loved HER in it. She is a great actress!

I had read the book Julie and Julia when it first came out a few years ago and was anxious to see the movie. I thought they did a great job by combining the two stories. Of course, Meryl did a WONDERFUL job portraying Julia Child, and Amy Adams was so cute, too. I really enjoyed the blogging part of the movie. How happy are we when we receive comments, right? LOL!

The movie comes out on DVD December 8th. It's on my Christmas list!

  11. Not gaga Meryll, but loved her in The Devil Wears Prada. I did enjoy her in Mama Mia, too. But did not enjoy Pierce Brosnan's singing. Perhaps because I had the stage guy in my head. But I did happen to go to the theater when it played the sing-a-long version and I managed to chime in! Will have to check out Julie and Julia. I thought it looked great.

  12. I haven't seen either one of those but they are on my Netflix list. If I can get my kids to stop putting every Scooby Doo movie first, maybe I will get to see them before New Years.

  19. I also enjoyed both movies but Julyand Julia more. I loved the rhythm of the story, the cooking topic, the writing topic. I have studied in Paris as well so I feel I belong to that city. But I must confess that when I went back home, after the movie, I was a little depressed too...

I, too, love the Streep. She can do no wrong in my world whether singing ABBA or flying over Africa with Robert Redford. As an actress, she was my chief inspiration (Emma Thompson is a close second!)

  51. I have yet to purchase the DVD of Julia Child, as I have a small collection of films dealing with food, but I concur with you about Meryl Streep, whom I also greatly admire.

I did not see the musical, as I for one do not find this type of film or entertainment my kind of cup of tea.

However give me an eighteenth century drama, I am glued to the screen!

The name escapes me, sorry , but the British female writer of Pride and Prejudice, those films I love.

    Wishing you all the best,
    Egmont
