Ba-Donka-Donk

While sitting in my dingy little office exploring the Internet there's nothing nicer than a cup of coffee and  a salmon sandwich to keep me going.
I'd love to share with you a brilliant game of American slang vs
English slang. I do really love Hugh Laurie, he is so fantastic and talented.

Ellen D. and Hugh Laurie at their best.
Enjoy! xx

  9. Hugh Laurie is so cool. I don't really like the show House anymore, but he'll always be a favorite of mine. I love revisiting Jeeves and Wooster.

  13. I love both Hugh and Ellen, although I didn't understand any of the American slang words!
Someone just mentioned "Jeeves & Wooster"...I just bought the boxed set!
Yes, we talk totally different, or at least our slang words are!
One thing we do have in common is we all know what a cuppa is!

  14. "England and America are two countries separated by a common language."

  15. That was cute! He's quite clever. As is she!

  16. I much prefer his real accent!

  17. I knew 'chuffed'! I was so surprised by the amount of different words they used versus us, when we supposedly both speak 'english'.

For instance, never says pants unless you mean 'panties'. That would be 'trousers' ;)

p.s. Never heard Hugh Laurie do his British accent!

  18. I absolutely adore House! I love when there is a marathon on television, I'll watch it for hours. I didn't know Hugh Laurie was British when the show first started. I saw him speaking with his British accent in something else and assumed he was putting it on. He's American accent is brilliant, but I think he's great either way!

Thanks for the clip. It was fun to watch!

  20. I LOVE this clip. I have a total "he could be my dad" crush on Hugh Laurie. He is so talented. He used to be on this British comedy from the 80's called Black Adder. His character in that show was so wild it took me like 6 months into watching House MD to realize he was the same guy on Black Adder.

  24. I'm always baffled by the discrepancies between British and American English. But those discrepancies sure make for a lot of humor. Thanks for sharing that, Betty. It was just hilarious!!!

  26. That was great. I cannot believe all this time watching House, that I never knew he was putting on an American accent for the show! Ugh!

  27. Being an English Ba-donka-donk shawty I just wanted to say how funny this was. Amazing to hear Hugh's actual accent again as we've become so used to hearing his American accent.
