First Day of Summer

Today is the first official day of summer! In the U.S.A. and the rest of the northern hemisphere, it is the day
of the year when the sun is farthest north. This day is known as the Summer Solstice.
The Celts celebrated the first day of summer with dancing.
I wonder if the day is still celebrated around the world.

Have a great, sunny summer! Never forget to use sunscreen. xx

Here in Spain, the sun is further north. This day is known as the summer solstice.
Here in Galicia as a good land of the Celts, on 23 at night celebrated the first day of summer with bonfires, fire, dance and barbecue meat and fish.

  72. Yumm!!!

I suppose dancing is a good way to celebrate just about anything. I've never felt comfortable enough to really dance, but heartily enjoy seeing people who are free enough to shrug off inhibitions and move to the music. Ellen Degeneres is really cool that way.
