I have at least a couple handfuls of simple pleasures. But one sticks out to me the most, bicycle riding in in the countryside. I love taking to the rural roads and hillsides on my bike. Countryside cycling is tranquil and wonderful; beautiful views spread out before you, and fresh, crispy country air fills your lungs.
It's nice to look at nature and get a break from technology.
I'm pretty fond of sheep for some reason.
Simple joys: watching nature, drinking my coffee, writing, breathing.

ReplyDeletei love wandering the trails in the parks and preserves, with my camera of course, and sitting in the swing in the back yard watching the sun come up behind the trees, and snapping photos of flowers and trees and bugs and frogs in my yard. sitting on the park bench with peanuts for the squirrels and i love all critters with 4 legs, cows and horses, anything with fur.

One of my simplest joys is the smell of freshly cut grass. Another is the sound of bumble bees buzzing around my lavender bush. Simple and sweet.

ReplyDeleteI think sheep are cute, too, but take my serenity from watching the cows graze around here. Have you ever heard how LOUD it is to hear them ripping the grass from the ground when they're grazing??!! It's amazing and I love it!

I like walking in nature, see the ocean, petting an animal into a cathedral and enjoy the silence ... the life that was inside. The song of a bird, the sprouting of a flower, the whistle of a bee, ants work, look at the sun, stars, moon ... many simple things

Today it's the chickadees nesting on my back porch. The babies have hatched and mom and dad are working hard bringing them things to eat. I love working from home - that's one of the simple things I like, too.

ReplyDeleteFor me -- I do what I can to enjoy the changes of the seasons with my camera around my farm. Little things that may often get unnoticed. :)
I like to sit and talk to my dog or cat as if they understand normal speech. (I never do baby talk.) And it's cool when they come up to me and lay across my feet or on my lap as if to want to hear more.
ReplyDeleteI also love it when we're watching a movie at home, and my wife leans to rest against me one one side, and then one of my kids leans into me from the other side. They make me feel like a hero! It doesn't matter what we're watching; those simple, but genuine expressions of affection just make my day. :-)

I adore the laughter of children, putterin' in my flower gardens talkin' to God, warm bubbly baths are the end of a hard day and the way Farm Boy's eyes light up when I walk into a room.

Beautiful pictures. Nature is one of the simplest pleasures that brings me so deep inside myself - whether gardening or walking on a trail or even in the neighborhood. Another is waking to the sound of the birds greeting the new dawn. The full Moon, a rain storm, stopping in the middle of chaos and taking a deep breath.

BUT--when I was younger, I didn't take time to 'smell the roses'... I didn't appreciate the simple things like I do now...

Wonderful pictures. cycling down a country lane sounds fun. I love bushwalking and walking along the beach, having breakfast on the deck, reading in bed when its raining.
