Have a Huggy Weekend!

I just want a hug!!

I am definitely a hugger. I mean really! Well, obviously, I don't just go around hugging anyone but I love to hug my family members and close friends that I haven't seen for a while; I am not a cheek kisser hello/good bye though.
I love hugging people I care about (reaching over and heartily pat on the back) as a means of showing my love and affection for them.

Have you ever thought how important hugs are? I know I haven't. The Internet is full of sources to verify how important hugging is. The touch of a hug has a healing effect on your body.
It's good to have physical contact sometimes. It's just feels nice emotionally, it is good for the soul.
Studies also showed that hugging improves your health. Did you know January 21st is National Hug Day?

Let us not forget to embrace those whom we love.

Here's a touching real life story about love from newborns! Rescuing Hug. This is the sweetest thing I've ever seen! Literally.

Are you a hugger?

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xx

P.S. Ever wondered what would happen if you attempted to hug random people in the street?
Stay tuned.

P.P.S. And remember, hugging is contagious. Big hugs to you all!

  3. not a hugger and don't like to be hugged. i hugged... and i am allergic to perfume, and people cover themselves in it and then hug me and i choke. i have a neighbor who hugs and i have to wash my clothes after she hugs me. i also do not like shaking hands and try to avoid it when possible. a word to huggers be sure to only hug people you know don't mind. the babies are so sweet. and hugging children is a great idea.

  12. I am a hugger, but have learned to contain myself appropriately, because not everyone likes that. :)

  13. I always hug my family when I arrive and their house, and before I leave. I don't really hug my friends, just my family. Unless it's a special occasion like a wedding, then I'll give my friends some big hugs :)

  14. Yes, Betty, I too believe hugs keep us alive - literally and spiritually.

Beautiful Entry personified in the necessary hugs.
We should embrace and kiss more.
We are too cold and we need to show our love.
    As Edward Paul Abbey said:
"I believe in what I can only touch, kiss or hug. The rest is just smoke."
    A big hug

  17. My family hugs each other a lot. My children and I are more demonstrative than my hubby. But, his family weren't huggers and mine were.
    Hugs to you!

  24. I've never been big on initiating hugs, but will always return one. :)

I do love to hug my dogs (which is another reason I love BIG dogs) and give out plenty of virtual hugs.

    (((hugs))) to you, Betty!

  25. Yes, I am a 'hugger', very natural amongst my family and friends.
Such a lovely post dear Betty. The video was special, I cannot understand hospital protocol putting twins in separate rooms, they have been together in the womb for all of those months and formed a bond of love. Thank goodness the nurse broke the rules and re-united them.
A warm cyber-hug for you too!

  29. There is a fisher woman in south of India who claims to be a spiritual person and has immense following around the world and amassed assets in huge proportions. She can be seen as a philanthropist. She hugs all who go to see her and they cry in ecstasy when hugged by her. Strange!!

  30. I love to hug my family and close friends. I saddens me that TOH doesn't instigate hugs but I mug him with a hug now and then.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Like Diane above, I will hug family and close friends, and less close friends to thanks them, or if I feel they need one. Other than that I wouldn't instigate one, but wouldn't not return a hug if it was offered. On the other hand, I would give a kiss on the cheek ( just one, very English!) in greeting or farewell.

Que tengas un feliz fin de semana.
    Un abrazo Betty.

  33. Big fan of the hug here. I never was until I met my wife 30 years ago, she came from a long line of huggers. My wife is the queen of hugs. My sister once said, When Mary Ellen ( my wife)hugs you, she means it!

  38. I too like to hug. One of my favorite times of the day is when I get to rock my little one before bed. I love when he hugs me and lays his head on my shoulder. Pure heaven. Those babies are precious. Thanks for sharing!!!

  39. I remember hearing that we need at least 8 hugs a day. Our brains respond in positive ways. Since hearing tat my husband and I try to give each other a minimum of 8 hugs a day. :) Have a huggy day!

  40. Yes, I am a hugger! But no random hugs to strangers -- that could lead to a lawsuit! :)

  42. I am not a huggy person. I love to hug my kid and other loved ones but to people at my work are huggy people and I don't want that. Virtual hugs are all good too!

  43. I am a hugging person, but only to those I actually have feelings for or like.
As you know, my wife is Japanese and it is hilarious to watch some of her relatives squirm, when somebody hugs them. They can't get out of that hug fast enough. I know it's a cultural thing, but I really think they are missing out.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I agree that there definitely are not enough hugs going around in this day and age.

    ReplyDelete
  45. That video is SO adorable!!! I such a hugger :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I can't get enough hugs!!! But I do know that some people don't appreciate them the same as me, so I try not to freak people out.

My boss' mom is a super-hugger. She kind-of "adopted" some of us like we were family, coming in with food or treats once in a while, and when she arrives, it's big hugs and kisses for all of us. I soak it all up!!!

We didn't do much of that when I was a kid, but when I connect with anyone who is comfortable with that, it feels so natural and right.

At church, I compulsively tug pony tails (not hard), pat people on the shoulder, shake hands and give hugs... like I need to make some kind of contact in order to communicate that I love them.

  47. Happy hugging weekend to you too Betty :)

I enjoy hugging too. It makes me feel safe and closer to the person I love. Enjoy your weekend!

  48. A hugger if I know the person or if they are a person who I feel instantly comfortable with on first meeting them, I am otherwise a bit of a typical Brit in that 'this is my space and that's yours'.

  49. ...hello Betty, I'm glad you have the gift of "gestures." Not everyone is capable of being expansive and taken to the gesture of a hug because naturally, sometimes about friendship open, others with sincere affection, I saw mothers prevented embrace for her son, the most beautiful act between two people who love one another, as I have seen good and selfless, but incapable of a true embrace. As would be beneficial for the live quitidiano to embrace everyone, everywhere! ... Maybe the man and the world in which vivamo would be more clear ..... and a great big hug my friend ... Sergio ..

  56. Guess I'll have to mark Jan. 21 on my calendar next year. As for random hugging in the street - way too politically incorrect in today's society - but wouldn't that go a long way to make the world a better place ?
