Gee, It's kind of Spooky!

When I was in Plymouth, UK almost a month ago, I went on a walk around town. This particular day I set out later than usual.
As I turned around to come back home dusk began falling and the dark settled in more quickly than I expected. The familiar shapes of houses, and the street lighting along the road became transformed by shadow into objects I've never seen before. I thought to myself, I may have strayed into the bad end of town...oh, that's really, really, really scary. But luckily the house where I  stayed was too close to a busy road so the best thing to do was to hasten home.
Everything looks so different in the dusk. The scenery becomes more profound, charming and enchanting.
Everything took on a spooky aspect against the setting sun and dimming light.
It was purely magical.
Yes, I did have a scary experience, but I was lucky enough to take some good (to my mind) photos. That walk at dusk certainly paid off! xx
Cattedown, Plymouth, UK.

Everything looks so surreal. My art teacher will only take photos before 8:00 AM and after 5:00 PM. He's a nut about lighting. He would love yours.

Oh, those pictures are a bit spooky, and I wouldn't like to be in there. But, they are beautiful photos.

MadSnapper said...

spooky they are, and i would not want to be walking in any of these photos alone or even with someone, but they make great photos, pretty lights. now you can add a witch here and a ghost there and be ready for All Hallows Eve.

haha, trac! truth be told...i was all alone in that place, but the house where i was staying in was too close to a busy road when darkness fell over there!

Yes, night time shots can be magical and you've captured magic here - even though it was a little spooky.

Nice shots, Betty ! I hope your week is less spooky. ;-)

Back in '81, I saw An American Werewolf in London. There are lingering emotions from that movie that your photos stirred up. I hope these triggers don't impede tonight's sleep. (shiver)

It is a drastic change when the sun goes down. If we're out late the familiar can become strange.

The moon and street lights combine to make some spooky scenes.

WebbieLady said...

Looks like the place is deserted..

I'd feel spookiness too if i was there alone..

lucky you had your cam toplay with to forget the feeling.

I cannot tell you the number of times I've set out on a walk, planning to be back well before dark, and then going off here and there, suddenly realizing it's completely dark, and I REALLY don't want to be where I've ended up! :-)

Thank you so much for sharing these at The Creative Exchange this week.

Have a great day!

I am surprised to realize I haven't done this for a while, but I rather like walking after nightfall whether in a city or around a quiet small town; or even in the country, or the woods and wilds, when there is a smooth road or trail to walk.

I love these shots - it's very true that dusk makes things look very different. I've been a couple of places I shouldn't, but being a somewhat oversized guy I just stand up straight and I've been lucky so far!
