Asking Weird, Interesting Questions + Have a Great Weekend!

...why do I seem to enjoy going out and hanging with friends, but at the same time, I do like to spend some alone time.
Have you ever wondered if you're an introvert or extrovert?

-I'm kind of an ambivert (ambiverts fall smack in the middle of the introvert-extrovert spectrum).

Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten why you walked into that room?
-As I get older I find myself doing this more often.

Do you brush before floss or floss before brush?
-Brush. Floss. Repeat.

Did you know that: Elvis dyed his hair black? What was his natural hair colour? Elvis had a pet chimp called Scatter, which developed a taste for Scotch and bourbon.
- ...

Ever been scared to do something, and then once you've done it, realized that it wasn't quite as bad as you were imagining in your mind?
-My approach to this: It's never as bad as you think.

What are your simple joys in life?
-Call me a kid, but I still like the list my little ten year old self made:

1. Ice-cream.
2. Saturday mornings- that moment when I can just relax and let time pass like there's no such thing as a   schedule.
3. More ice-cream.
4. Christmas Cartoons/A Christmas Carol. I still watch my all time favourite "A Christmas Carol" movie and Christmas Cartoons every year with my sister.
5. Starry skies.
6. Favourite smells: The smell of a campfire. The smell of rain. The smell (and taste) of bacon.

Go figure!

Do you talk to random strangers?
-No, but I do have a tendency to strike up a conversation when I'm waiting in line.
How about you? I'd love to hear.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xx

Hmm......
Definitely more of an introvert though more by circumstances than choice.
As I get older I find myself doing this more often.
Brush, floss then gargle.
Naturally he was what I describe as dirty blonde.
Yes.
To give you my autumnal joys - Curling up with a good book and a hot water bottle
Seeing the leaves turn from green to that lovely russet red
Hot chocolate with cream AND marshmallows.

When I go hiking.

When I find friends visiting me.

Awesome.

i always refer to myself as an extroverted introvert. i prefer quiet and solitude, but if put in a social situation, i'll work the room with the best of them. :)

enjoy your weekend, dear betty!

I am extrovert when one on one and do talk to strangers, but introvert when in a party crowd, and i love being alone, but don't want to be alone as in living by myself.

I floss/brush

no nothing about Elvis except who he was

i am scared to do just about anything and this is a quote on my monitor.
"Though I was afraid of many things, the thing I feared most mortally was being afraid." James Buchan

simple joys.reading my kindle, all things computer and software and I love Hokey Christmas movies, but not cartoons

Betty Manousos said...

sandra, i did like james buchan's quote; and thanks for sharing your insight!:)

I definitely like to stay home more than going out. I think I'm an introvert, but a friendly one :) I just am more comfortable and happy in my home with my hubby!

Hope you have a great weekend!

I am pretty sure I am a introvert. I am friendly, just my shyness takes over. I am with you on the ice cream, I love it! I love to watch the old Christmas movies. Floss and then brush! Fun post, Betty!
Have a happy weekend!

Kelly said...

Ambivert - I like that term! I guess that's what I am. Even though I can talk to anyone comfortable if I need to, I just usually don't go out of my way to. I enjoy being alone. :)

I brush then floss, but also add a "sulca brush" between the two.

Elvis died his hair? I don't think I knew that!

Hope you have a fun weekend, Betty!

EG CameraGirl said...

I'm an introvert. I think you have the best of both worlds being an ambivert.

Brush, floss, then brush again. :))

Elizabeth Anderson said...

I am a mixture. I can be shy but also strike up chats with people waiting in line. It's more difficult to chat with people at a networking meeting. At the same time I can make a presentation to a large group of people despite the fear inside.

The more on my mind and the less sleep I have the more forgetful I become.

Brush then floss and floss throughout the day.

If I'm afraid to do something I prepare, prepare, prepare then I let the fear reside in me but can go on to do it. If I try to fight my fear I only dwell on it which makes me dysfunctional.

I like/love:

Sunday mornings, quiet, reading in winter with a wood burning fire.

Brunch with friends although I haven't done this in a very long time.

Sharing and caring for people I love.

Giving and helping

Playing with children especially art activities

Wind on a fall day

Full moons starry skies

Have a wonderful weekend Betty :D

Tamara Camera said...

I totally think I'm an ambivert - just depending on mood and life in general. And I used to floss before brushing but now I'm told to brush first so that's what I do!
Have a beautiful weekend! Full if ice cream and bacon, if possible.

Barb said...

Who would floss first? I'm definitely an introvert but sometimes speak to strangers. Strangers might actually be easier than people I know! I like your simple joys.

I frequently strike up conversations with strangers, but I'm happy being all alone. I don't mind my own company and I get along with me quite well.

Have a beautiful weekend!

If I feel comfortable with someone and know them well, I am an extrovert. If I don't know you--or worse, put me in a crowd--I'm painfully introverted. I'd love to fall in the middle somewhere. Sigh! Great post!

Hi Betty, I'm an ambivert also--since I 'test' right on the line. But--my introvert qualities seem dominant most of the time..

Oh Yes---I have walked into a room--and had to turn around and go back to where I started--just to remember what I was going to do... ha ha

Brush... Floss later

Who cares about Elvis???? ha

Yes---and most of the time, I'm 'proud' that I did it!

Simple joys:
-sitting by a roaring fire in the fireplace
-watching my backyard birds
-watching for a sunrise or sunset
-seeing a rainbow
-hiking in the woods
-finding a new waterfall
-I also love ICE CREAM.

Don't talk to strangers much--unless they start a conversation.

Hugs,
Betsy

I might fall into the "ambivert" category. I much prefer to leave the talking to an extrovert. But, if I'm in the company of someone who seems to be more introverted than I am, I'm interested in trying to draw that person out and help him or her to feel more comfortable in the situation.

Simple joys are time with close friends, private and corporate worship, good books, the beauty of nature, and chocolate. :)

Brush, then floss. Forgetfulness is my middle name. I thought Elvis' natural hair was a medium brown.

Great questions! I'll answer some of them:

I always thought I was an extrovert but being around people for too long drains me. Apparently I'm an INFJ - I present as extroverted but am intuitively introverted.

Do you brush before floss or floss before brush?
- Brush, floss, inter-dental cleaning, mouth wash

Ever been scared to do something, and then once you've done it, realized that it wasn't quite as bad as you were imagining in your mind?
I make it a habit of doing things that terrify me.

What are your simple joys in life?
Walking
Music
Hanging out and doing nothing with Le Husband

Do you talk to random strangers?
All the time.

Shalet Jimmy said...

I never know what that word is. But now yes...I am an ambivert too. I have never been to West. But I always imagined celebrating Christmas there. I have been imagining it since I was a little girl.

As always love your positive posts.

Hi Betty I am mainly an extrovert but don't like to go in to rooms with a lot of people. Love spending time alone as relaxation. Do talk to strangers (I'm Irish)You had me looking up Google on Elvis' hair and discovered he was a twin which I did not know. His twin was born 35 mins before him but was stillborn. I think he had dark hair but perhaps just wanted it even darker than normal. Too many things to write about that I like. If someone comes up with a negetive, I will have a position. My motto is ' if there is a problem, there is always a solution, eventually'!

diane b said...

I'm a bit of both but probably more of an extrovert. there is a theory about walking through a doorway clears the memory . Brush first. Its never as bad as you think is what I try to tell myself Simple joys are walking in the bush or along the beach. I will talk to strangers.
Have a good weekend.

Z pewnością jest mi bliżej do introwertyka, ale nie do końca, bo lubię spędzać czas wśród ludzi i bawić się z nimi. Nie jestem z pewnością "gwiazdą" na takich spotkaniach. Pozdrawiam.
Certainly, I'm closer to the introvert, but not really, because I like to spend time among the people and have fun with them. I'm not sure a "star" at such meetings. Yours.

I am an ambivert, too - I was with friends all day yesterday and then we went to a dinner that lasted about half an hour too long with the chatting - I was ready for home and some quiet, alone time. But I do talk to strangers very easily and enjoy that.

I thought Elvis's hair was naturally black. Who knew?

Hi Betty,
It's a wonderful post. I love it!
I truly love challenges...
My first answer is, I love Elvis!
I have read a lot about him.
I love Music, Art, Literature...
Elvis was born a blonde baby with blue eyes. His natural hair colour was blonde, yet he dyed it black to look more like a tough man.
About me, I have different personalities. Nobody could really foresee in the mood I'll be in this day. At times, I am happy, outgoing, friendly, excited, nice and talkative, and so on. Other times, I feel shy or introverted, reserved to myself, perhaps even depressed, or upset over little things. I can go from up the hill to down the valley in a matter of just a few minutes. I did not have a good childhood, nor good memories about it. My mom was a very strict lady. My maternal grandmother, who was born in 1885 in Genova, Northern Italy, and my mom helped each other with my upbringing. My parents got separated when I was 8 years old. I missed my daddy not being at home for me. I know I was a good child, but my mom used to beat me pretty hard anyway as a child. I guess it was the law at that time to discipline children. I hate it, for it hurt not only from the outside, but also from the inside.
My mom had no tolerance, no patience, and she also did not like children. She did not help me build my self-esteem. So, I did not like myself when I was a little girl, for I was an unhappy child. My father was the one who wanted to have a baby. My mom wanted a boy, never a girl. She did not like girls. I left my mom's home at the age of 23, and I headed for New York City. I just wanted to be free at last. I have struggled for survival. I got married young. The father of my daughter practiced domestic violence and cruel abuses on me for 10 years or so. He tried to kill me many times. I survived, because God saved my life. Now, I celebrate life thanks the Lord Jesus, my only Savior. Well at this point, I am a Christian Senior Citizen, a freelance writer, poet, lyricist, artist, nature and animal lover/advocate, so I find plenty of things to entertain myself and keep my mind active. Physicians said that I am a bipolar patient with other issues. I spend most of the time at home with my cats and hubby, who is a Physician Surgeon. I still suffer from health issues, and I have hard times going outside and moving around, due to my health troubles. Other than that, I am a super lovely old lady. I have just turned 60 years old in God's Vineyard. I wish to write the autobiography of my life.
Have a blessed time, Betty!

I think I am an Ambivert too. I love being with people but then there are times when I could hibernate in my room all day long. I floss before I brush. Simple joys: Ice cream, snuggles with my kid or dog, reading.

I love Christmas cartoons too! I made sure Jakes knows the cartoons I grew up with.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Most of my answers are pretty much like yours. Although most people that know me would say I'm an extrovert all the way, I REALLY value my alone time. I love to talk to people (strangers included), but can go for days without talking to people if given the chance.

I have a ton of simple things I enjoy, but near the top of the list is:
Driving a back road.
Hiking in the wilderness and realizing that the only sound to be heard is your own breath and footfalls.
The sound of running water.
Hanging around with my grand kids.
When my wife finishes one of my sentences, or I finish one of hers.
A gentle and cool breeze.
Petting a cat.
Listening to a cat putt
Scratching a dogs head.
Hanging around my grand kids.
The drowsiness that sometimes comes when watching a movie.
Shooting the breeze with a close friend.
Repairing something for other people.

By nature, an introvert; can be an extrovert when required but that also requires a lot of energy; am quite comfortable in my own company; love the countryside - go into the city only when absolutely necessary; have retraced my steps many times after walking into a room (I think doors have the effect of erasing one's mind); am 'afflicted' by a rather large dose of ADD - need lists to make sure I get things done although am capable of becoming single-minded about something I'm passionate about; never gave a thought to the colour of Elvis' hair.

I am not usually the first to strike up a conversation with a stranger. But if they start first - I will chat with them! :)

Ambivert... Yeah, I so I get that. Yes, sometimes I feel totally introverted, even though most people automatically categorize me as a gregarious extrovert.

Talking to strangers is hit & miss. Shunning strangers is somewhat dehumanizing, don't you think? And what is a stranger, but a friend that we have not met yet? Sometimes I take the risk and find that it lands me square in the awkward zone. But other times, it is truly rewarding.

I think I am an ambivert too! Depends on the company really. My sister and I loved watching Elvis films on television in the school holidays when we were teenagers!
