"Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk I should avoid at all costs and that is the risk of doing nothing. ~D. Waitley
I really like this quote because it stimulates and motivates me to action. In fact, it stimulates my brain and gives me any positive feelings I need to cope with life after very extended periods in lockdowns.
Sometimes all we need is a little motivation to get you to your goals and helps you live your dreams; to give you the drive and the zest in doing things. Oftentimes, I find myself suffering from a lack of motivation, feeling unhappy with one or two aspects of the life I'm living. But I'm determined to change my life's attitude and I'm really going to work hard to change my way of thinking for the better. We can't always change external circumstances, but we can always change how we think about any situation that occurs. Success and even how we deal with challenges will depend very much on our attitude. When we change the quality of our thinking, we change the quality of our life.
I openly say that I'm a quote addict. And this saying has helped me many times to battle a rough day or bad day.
"If you feel like giving up, just look back on how far you are already."
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, stay safe! xx
P.S.
Social distancing measures feel really important right now. Hope you're hanging in there.
So I was browsing the Internet the other day and I stumbled upon a rather interesting article.
Oscar Wilde once quipped: "All women become like their mothers. That is...
Writer's block. I think this is something most bloggers go through from time to time. At least, I do. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to think about what to post. Luckily, I have...

It's been a while since I posted a Five Things Tuesday post. I decided I wanted to start doing it again so here goes...
For those of you who are new readers "Five Things Tuesday" was started a couple of years ago as a way to sit down and reflect on what the past days have been like for me.
Today is International Women's Day so I thought I'd share this brilliant video with you "100 years of incredible women." I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did. International Women's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
International Women's Day first emerged from the activities of labour movement at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across Europe.
Keeping myself motivated and inspired.
Photographing spring flowers. There is beauty all around us; we just have to learn to see it.
Current food craving.
On those days when I find myself feeling overwhelmed by stress, emotional, and like I can't do anything right, a nice cup of tea and donuts always make me feel better.
Hello everyone! Hope your holidays were safe, happy, and full of great memories. Make this New Year your best year yet!
This might seem like a good thing! Ah, resolutions are usually difficult to stick to. Don't you think?
As we entered the new year, I've decided to make only one resolution. My resolution is to stay committed. Stay committed to my (attainable) goals. Stay committed to my dreams. Stay committed to things that will further my photography projects. Stay committed to the things I love and value.
So my word that I want to focus on for the year is commit. Truth be told, without committing, we can't achieve anything.
If you're a regular reader of Cut and Dry, then you know that I'm a big fan of positive affirmations (Positive affirmations: Statements of intent. Through these statements we express our desire of how we want our life to be), positive thinking and quotes about life.
I keep these inspirational words written on cards pinned to the wall above my...
So I had some (kind of) panic attack symptoms for the first time last month, and I read this book...it has helped so much. It got me through a really rough time.
I've tried really hard not to talk about it. This blog is not a woe is me, pity party. It can often be difficult to discuss how you feel with other people, especially if you think that no one else feels the same. Sure, there are worse things in life, but let's face it, life is...
So while browsing the Internet the other day, I came across an article on self-forgiveness, and it struck a chord with me...So for today's post, I thought I'd share a few thoughts on...
So last night, I caught myself in a funk - not depressed, but empty, purposeless and disconnected and couldn't figure out why.
You know, those days that feel blah - and the nice weather is certainly not to blame.
Once I realized what was happening, I decided to make a list of some things (quick fixes) for getting out of my funk.
*Give myself permission to do nothing and just be.
*Put on some happy music.
*Go for a walk. (It's surprising how much physical activity can lift a funk.)
*Read a good book or see an inspirational movie.
*Take the afternoon off and take a nap.
*Make a list of 10 things you are thankful for.
*Stop worrying about things you have no control over.
*Be here NOW.
Live in the moment.
Hope you get a chance to refuel this weekend. Have a great one, and Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers and mothers-to-be out there! xx
So. When I'm feeling low or overwhelmed, I turn to my books for some inspiration and words of wisdom; this helps without fail. For years, I have kept a collection of quotes that inspire me. This quotation...
I hope you're having a wonderful week. Happy Tuesday! xx
Spring sunset.
Trying to convey what I'm feeling in my images.
Lately, I've been drawn to photos that have painterly qualities. ABOVE This image shows "a walk in the rain". The texture in this image reminds me somewhat of an "impressionist" painting.
Silly as it may seem, the older I get, the more I appreciate the little things in life. When I'm feeling low or discouraged, there is no better cure for it than to get excited about something; doing the things that...
